Data and Analytics – the DNA behind BLC
With over five million members, it is vital that all business areas at Blue Light Card use data and insights to improve our member experience, offering, and business-wide decision making. The Data Team makes this happen. We are strong believers in analytics and the empowerment of the wider business, ensuring that every part of the company has the right data and insights at their fingertips to help our members. This includes working in close collaboration with colleagues from across the business, including our researchers who provide qualitative feedback from members.
The Data Team is divided into three closely collaborating areas.

Analytics Engineering
The Analytics Engineering Team ensures we have best-in-class pipelines and data foundations, robust processes, and maintain high-quality data that is easily accessible in one place for self-service analytics.
BI, Insights & Analytics
The BI, Insights & Analytics Team manages the end-to-end insights process from business understanding, data modelling, and experimentation to the communication of compelling insights to stakeholders. We are building self-serve analytics products to empower our colleagues, and our analyses cover all aspects from ‘what happened’ to ‘why did it happen’ to ‘what should happen’.
Data Science & Machine Learning Engineering
The Data Science & ML Team uses cutting-edge methods, tools and techniques to build data products that power our member experience or internal processes. From personalisation to anomaly detection, the team leverages data to shape the member experience, using predictive analytics, AI, and other machine learning applications.
