Senior Mixed Methods Researcher
The Role and the Team
At Blue Light Card, we exist to make heroes happy, and that starts with truly understanding them.
As a Senior Mixed Methods Researcher, you’ll play a key role in helping us do just that. Working within our growing research function, you’ll combine UX research and market insight to uncover what really matters to our members - from how they behave, to what they value, to where we can do better.
You’ll partner closely with teams across Product, Design, Marketing and Data, helping shape decisions that impact millions of people who keep the country running. This is a role for someone who loves digging into complex questions, connecting the dots and turning insight into action. You’ll also help evolve how research works at Blue Light Card, raising the bar for how we generate and use insight across the business.
What You’ll Do
Own research within key product and strategic areas, designing and delivering studies that answer meaningful business questions
Use a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to build a deep understanding of member behaviour, needs and motivations
Choose the right research approach for each challenge, from interviews and usability testing to surveys, segmentation and market analysis
Turn complex findings into clear, actionable insights that influence product, marketing and commercial decisions
Bring insight to life through compelling storytelling that resonates with different audiences across the business
Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure research informs priorities, roadmaps and member experiences
Share knowledge, frameworks and best practice to help teams use research more effectively
Contribute to growing and strengthening the research practice across Blue Light Card
What You’ll Bring
Strong experience across both UX research and broader market or behavioural research
Confidence designing and running research studies independently using a range of methods
Ability to synthesise complex data into clear, practical insights that drive action
Experience working closely with product teams and influencing decisions through evidence
Strong communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to engage different audiences
Curiosity and confidence to tackle complex, ambiguous problem spaces
A collaborative mindset and enthusiasm for improving how research is used across teams
A genuine interest in understanding people and improving experiences for our members
Our Culture
Our mission is simple – make heroes happy. Our members are the real-life heroes who keep us all safe, cared for, and thriving. It’s what gets us up in the morning and pushes us to go further, think bigger, and create something that truly matters. By focusing on their happiness, we create amazing experiences, deliver unrivalled discounts, innovative products, and world-class service.
We don’t just follow the usual path - we look for smarter, bolder ways to deliver real impact. We take ownership, move fast, and work shoulder to shoulder to build something special.
We’re committed to building a diverse and inclusive team where everyone feels they belong. Different perspectives and experiences help us grow, innovate, and better reflect the communities we serve.
We promote hybrid working, and value in-person collaboration so encourage time in our offices, where you can make the most of our fully stocked snack drawers – either the HQ in Leicestershire, or London, Holborn office. The frequency and office location will vary depending on the role and team. We aim to be flexible, but we aren’t able to offer fully remote working.
