The Role and the Team
We’re looking for a Management Accountant to join our Finance team, you'll collaborate across departments and engage in business partnering with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) and Executive Board (Exec). You'll report into the Management Accounting Manager and play an essential role in the change process as the organisation moves towards more business partnering, enabling greater flexibility and innovation. In a smaller business like ours, your work will have a visible, direct impact on the bottom line. Your responsibilities will go beyond producing reports and evaluations, as you'll also participate in audits, processes, and strategic planning.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in producing monthly management accounts for UK, international, and Group entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness
- Contribute to affiliate accounting work, focusing on revenue recognition and understanding the accounting implications
- Manage month-end tasks, such as posting journals, accruals, prepayments, and depreciation, while conducting P&L reviews
- Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring completeness and accuracy, and identifying any omissions
- Maintain accurate fixed asset registers and inventory records
- Collaborate with the Finance Planning and Analysis team regularly to prepare for month-end, facilitating knowledge sharing across departments
- Address queries from the Accounts Receivable (AR) and Accounts Payable (AP) teams, offering assistance or directing queries to the appropriate person as needed
- Support year-end processes, including audits, reporting, Group VAT returns, and weekly cash flow forecasts
What You’ll Bring
- ACCA or CIMA qualification, showcasing your expertise in accounting and financial management
- Natural leadership and organisational skills, with the ability to manage effectively in a manager’s absence, ensuring the team remains focused and supported while being a team player who listens and is mindful of others’ needs
- Proven success in process improvement, using a collaborative approach to identify and implement efficiencies that enhance business performance while ensuring the right outcomes for the business and the team
- Experience in mentoring and developing talent, with a focus on fostering a supportive and inclusive environment where listening and consideration of others are key
- Strong communication and influencing skills, engaging confidently with the Exec and SLT, with the ability to offer constructive feedback on strategy, always acting with integrity
- Experience in management accounts, ideally within a fast-paced international group finance function, balancing the demands of multiple stakeholders while fostering teamwork
- Proven ability to meet tight deadlines, demonstrating resilience and exceptional time management while maintaining a focus on teamwork and shared goals
- Keen attention to detail and strong data management skills, with intermediate Excel expertise to handle large data sets with accuracy, ensuring the best outcomes for the team and business
